Calaveras Celtic Faire & Concert

Mother Lode Fairgrounds, Sonora, CA. Usually held the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day. Patrick Karnahan founded the Sonora Celtic Faire in 1987. First held in Sonora, Ca, and now in Angels Camp at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds. This faire is noted for its music, joust, living history area and vendors.

Las Mariposas Civil War Days

Presented by the Las Mariposas Civil War Group in partnership with American Civil War Association, this event commemorates Civil War figure John C. Fremont, and the location of his 44,386 acre Las Mariposas Land Grant. A true revival of this period, the Las Mariposas Civil War Days are held on the actual site of this grant on over 60 acres of Longs' Mariposa Ranch, in the historical town of Mariposa, CA; nestled in the beautiful Sierra Foothills of Northern California. A fantastic event for the entire family, these event days are chocked full of true to life events & displays, live battles, and a complete day dedicated to educational programs.

Annual Civil War Battles & Encampment (Info only)


Roaring Camp, California

Memorial Weekend


Travel back in time to the Civil War where encampments of Union and Confederate soldiers re-make history right before your eyes. Experience the sights and sounds of cavalry charges, musket fire and artillery shells in one of the longest-running historic reenactments in the West.


Ride an 1880s "iron horse" through an ancient redwood forest and witness skirmishes as the steam train ascends Bear Mountain. Glimpse a soldier’s daily life as he cooks meals over a campfire, cleans his musket and prepares for the day’s campaign. Then chow down on a Chuck Wagon Barbecue and take in the camp. See you at Roaring Camp for this fun family event on Memorial Day Weekend!

3rd weekend in July

Usually, the third weekend in July. We bring men’s wear. It is a beautiful setting! It is usually foggy in the mornings, but clears up later on. Northern California's largest civil war reenactment and one of the largest reenactments west of the Mississippi!

This is a lovely event in a new setting and many of our group attend. Everything you can imagine from Clan tents, games, competitive dancing (Irish and Scottish), music, pipe bands, living history, birds of prey, sheep dog trials, Clydesdales, soccer, rugby and shinty… and food and vendors!

A holiday adventure into Victorian London, hundreds of costumed players, over 120,000 square feet of music halls, pubs, dance parties and Christmas shops on winding lanes. It's a twilight evening in Charles Dickens' London. Enticing aromas of roasted chestnuts and hearty foods fill the air. Cries of street vendors hawking their wares ring out above the bustling crowd. Dozens of lamp lit shops filled to overflowing with Christmas presents, much handcrafted.
